30 Seconds Project

We reckon that very few human beings have more than 30 seconds in any day (except when asleep) where they don't hear a noise that is human in origin - the humming of a fridge, hedge trimmers, barking dogs, planes, cars, people talking etc. Do you?

EDIT - thanks to Emma Pusil for asking if dogs barking was a human origin noise. My take is that as nearly all dogs are descendants of wolves, bred by humans over thousands of years; that dogs are a human origin noise.

But... that wasn't the learning. Walking in locally recovering tiny woodland, I realised that less than ten trees were older than 100 years; and the woods had been plantation for shipbuilding in the 18&19 centuries; and probably cut for fuel in WW1 and WW2. Is there a place on Earth that hasn't been mediated by human touch? As plastic is now in the air and water, I suppose not. We are truly in the Anthropocene and heading for the NeverBeen.
